Today in History

Today, July 11th,  is the birthday of John Quincy Adams.  John Quincy, born in 1767, was our sixth president and was the son of John Adams, our second president.  To learn more about John Adams and his son John Quincy, I highly recommend the book, John Adams by David McCullough.  An excellent book!

“Let us tenderly and kindly cherish, therefore, the means of knowledge. Let us dare to read, think, speak, and write.”
~ John Adams

If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.   John Quincy Adams

  1. He is interesting, but his mother is the more remarkable, I think. I am reading her biography "Abigail Adams" and, while it is long and very thorough, it is fascinating how independent she was and how she and John (her husband) got along. They were terribly devoted to each other! You would enjoy the book, I think, but it is a commitment of time!

  2. I was impressed, too, by John and Abigail's devotion to each other and what their marriage endured. I may have to take a look at "Abigail Adams" - maybe a good winter project!
