Yours, Jack

I am a consummate highlighter when I read a book. I like to be able to flip through the pages of a book I’ve read and quickly find the passages that encouraged or inspired me. However, I’m finding that if I were to highlight in Yours, Jack – which I can’t since it isn’t mine – which is another reason to read your own books – the entire book would be page after page of pink highlighter!! The subtitle of this book is “Spiritual Direction from C.S. Lewis” and never a more accurate summary was penned.

From this morning’s reading of a May 8, 1939 letter came this simple, yet at the same time profound, observation:

“The process of living seems to consist in coming to realise truths so ancient and simple that, if stated, they sound like barren platitudes. They cannot sound otherwise to those who have not had the relevant experience; that is why there is no real teaching of such truths possible and every generation starts from scratch.” C.S. Lewis - Yours, Jack

  1. I am taking this as Divine Guidance. For the last three weeks, Lewis quotes have popped up in my life. Guess I need to get busy reading! LOL
